Car Accident Compensation Claim

WHO IS MY CLAIM AGAINST?
All registered vehicles in Queensland must have Compulsory Third-Party Insurance (CTP).
In the event the at-fault driver is not insured or cannot be identifeid (eg. hit and run), persons who have been injured can be compensated through the Nominal Defendant Insurance Scheme.
NB: A claim under the Nominal Defendant scheme it must be lodged within three months, or the claim could be rejected.
WHAT CAN I BE COMPENSATED FOR?
- All medical expenses – past, present and future;
- Loss of income;
- Pain and suffering;
- Assistance and care received by a professional or a family member;
- Loss of superannuation entitlements; and
- Loss of financial support from someone on whom you or your family was dependant.
NB: CTP insurance does not cover damage to proeprty or to vehicles.
